Concealed Weapon License

Information

Local residents are now able to apply for their Florida concealed weapon permit at the Office of the Lake County Tax Collector. This appointment only service is currently offered in the Tavares office located at 320 West Main Street, and the South Lake Regional Service Center located at 1505 Hooks Street, Clermont.

Cash, check and credit cards are accepted. *Please note, our third-party payment processor will charge a 2.5% convenience fee for credit and debit card transactions. Checks must be made payable to Bob McKee, Lake County Tax Collector and not to the Department of Agriculture.

Q: What to expect once I arrive at the Tax Collector Office.

Initial Application: A tax collector deputy will direct you to a computer station where you will complete a confidential electronic application form. Next, the application will be reviewed for completion by the deputy. Payment will then be requested, your photograph will be taken, and your fingerprints electronically scanned. Your application and documentation will then be submitted electronically to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for processing. *Please note, the final determination of an applicant’s eligibility for licensure will be made by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Renewal Application: A tax collector deputy will take your photograph and submit your renewal application electronically to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for processing. *Please note, the tax collector office does not currently print renewal licenses. If you wish to receive your renewal license immediately, it is recommended that you contact one of the Division of Licensing’s eight regional offices.
